https://rarehistoricalphotos.com/structure-relocation-romania-1987/

During the Communist Era in Romania huge massive soviet-style apartment buildings were built everywhere. In the city of Alba Iulia they were planning a majestic boulevard but realized one of those ugly monsters got in their way. The solution? They split it in two and moved one of the halves to the other side of the road. They dug under the building, put railways and wheels and moved it 55 meters away (180 ft). The whole operation took 5 hours and 40 minutes and the (now) 2 separate buildings were moved apart on a 33 degree inclined angle. All this was done with the residents still inside the building. A woman decided to place a glass of water on the edge of her balcony and it didn’t spill a drop.

Ceaușima (Romanian pronunciation: [t͡ʃe̯a.uˈʃima]) is a Romanian neologism sarcastically comparing the policies of former Communist leader Nicolae Ceaușescu to the nuclear attack on Hiroshima.[1] This portmanteau term was coined in the 1980s to describe the huge urban areas of Bucharest that Ceaușescu ordered torn down during the final few years of his tenure. Significant portions of the historic center of Bucharest were demolished to accommodate standardized apartment blocks and government buildings, including the grandiose Centrul Civic and the palatial House of the Republic.

[...]

The areas completely destroyed amounted to some 380 hectares (940 acres). In fact, the destroyed urban substance was more considerable, if isolated building clusters and town spots are added, such as the partial demolition of Știrbei Vodă street. Another outstanding example is the destruction of the vast monastic complex of Văcărești (1722) and of the Pantelimon Monastery (1750). Overall, the bulldozed area was approximately five kilometres long by one kilometre wide.[21] It was one of the largest peacetime urban destructions at the hands of humans in recorded history.[22] The bombardments in Bucharest and the 1977 earthquake together caused only 18% of the damage produced by the demolition campaign in the 1980s.[23] Out of the 500 hectares accounted as "Ceaușima", 250 hectares were urban districts of historical significance, representing some 20–25% of historic Bucharest.[21]

Among other destroyed monuments were 27 Orthodox Christian churches (counting eight relocated churches), six synagogues and Jewish temples, and three Protestant churches.[24]

Kim, Causesku...  Sta je sledece?   Neki Hitlerov urbanisticki ili industrijski podvig ?

On this day, July 23, 1980, Phạm Tuân became the first Vietnamese cosmonaut and first Asian person in space. He flew alongside Viktor Gorbatko on Soyuz 37 as part of the Soviet Interkosmos program.

Comrade Phạm spent 7 days and 20 hours aboard the Salyut 6 space station conducting scientific research before returning to Earth on July 31st.

Comrade Phạm is also notable in that he was the first and only VPAF combat pilot to shoot down a B-52 in air-to-air combat. His legendary MiG-21 is on display at the Hanoi Air Museum.

Who knew that in only 5 years after the end of the American War and the defeat of imperialism in Southeast Asia, Comrade Phạm, who once destroyed invaders with missiles, would take a rocket into space under the banner of International Socialism!

Mother Vietnam, thought to be forever condemned to suffering under imperialist bombs, flames, and bullets, emerged victorious and sent her sons to the stars!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cuban_medical_internationalism

Cuban medical internationalism is the Cuban programme, since the 1959 Cuban Revolution, of sending Cuban medical personnel overseas, particularly to Latin America, Africa and, more recently, Oceania,[1] and of bringing medical students and patients to Cuba. In 2007, "Cuba has 42,000 workers in international collaborations in 103 different countries, of whom more than 30,000 are health personnel, including no fewer than 19,000 physicians."[2] Cuba provides more medical personnel to the developing world than all the G8 countries combined
