Sta vi mislite?....JRR Tolkien was passed over for the 1961 Nobel literature prize after the storytelling in his Lord of the Rings trilogy was described as second rate.Newly-released documents - declassified after 50 years - show that he was nominated by fellow author CS Lewis. The Nobel prize jury said "the result has not in any way measured up to storytelling of the highest quality".Yugoslav writer Ivo Andric won for the "epic force with which he has traced themes and depicted human destinies"....edit: izvinite sto nema trece opcije, zlatne sredine ili tako necega. postoje trenuci u zivotu kada se covek mora opredeliti. vino ili rakija? zene ili muskarci? psi ili macke?

Wiki Summary: Moorcock criticises a group of celebrated writers of epic fantasy for children, including Tolkien, C. S. Lewis, and Richard Adams. His criticism is based on two principal grounds: what he sees as the poverty of their writing style, and a political criticism. Moorcock accuses these authors of espousing a form of "corrupted Romance", which he identifies with Anglican Toryism. The defining traits of this attitude are an anti-technological, anti-urban stance which Moorcock sees as ultimately misanthropic, that glorifies a vanishing or vanished rural idyll, and is rooted in middle-class or bourgeois attitudes towards progress and political change. The title arises from Moorcock's argument that the writing of Tolkien, Lewis, Adams and others has a similar purpose to the Winnie-the-Pooh writings of A. A. Milne, another author of whom he disapproves: it is fiction intended to comfort rather than challenge.Writers whom Moorcock cites approvingly, in contrast to his treatment of Tolkien, Lewis and Adams, include Terry Pratchett, Ursula K. Le Guin and Alan Garner.

Mudro zbori taj Murkok. Glasao za Andrica, jer sam njega citao (i uzivao), a Tolkina nisam jos uvek ni takao, a posle onih pola sata filma koje sam jedva izdrzao, nesto ni nemam zelju. :P

Hm.

Tolkien and Moorcock walk into a bar."What are you having?" says the affable, donnish Tolkien."Nothing from you, imperialist pig-dog,!" shrieks Moorcock, slicing off his head with a shrieking sword wreathed in black fire.At that moment, in walks Philip K Dick. "God told me if I came here a member of the Christian resistance would buy me a drink. Or maybe it was the Soviets, I'm not sure."Moorcock claps his arm around Dick's shoulders and says, "Behold, the man!"
